This is how I paint in SAI. c: This is not the real way, you can try this method and I really hope this tutorial helps you. Please feel free to ask questions! (:

Tools I use:
- BIC ballpoint pen (I use colour blue 'cause I have never seen them in black or red ink)
- Pentel water brush
- Derwent Inktense pencils (I sometimes also use pastels and/or Derwent's watercolour pencils. I mostly use inktenses because they have more pigment)
- Paint tool SAI
- Photoshop CS (I only use Photoshop for cropping and fixing up the contrast and brightness of the picture, I think any version of PS will do)

1. Here I have used my ballpoint pen to do the ''sketch''. You can use other tool you like for creating the lines, like normal pencils or ink. Whatever you like. (: I also have layered down shadows with my inktense pencils and used my waterbrush on those areas, so when I put down basic colours, the dark areas don't mix up with the basic colours.

2. Added basic colours with inktenses and again, used waterbrush on the colours.

Scanning: I have old crappy scanner from before 2000 :D But I repeat: the resolution must be atleast 300 dpi. I scan in 350 dpi. (: After scanning I clean up the picture in PS, then move it to SAI.

3. Before you start painting I copy the picture into another layer in case I forget some details and such 'cause I work on one layer. Anyways, my method of ''painting'' is actually blending the colours. In my opinion SAI is the best program for paintingblending unlike Photoshop. I use brush tool with 100% density, changing the ''simple circle'' to ''Middle round''. Dilution and persistence are always at 20. I change blending from 5-90 depending on what I am doing. If I need to blend, it's 60-90. If I want to add more colour then 5-30. It's hard to explain, try it out yourself to see!! :D When finished I use ink pen to add shine to eyes and other shiny things.

Hair: I use blending at 5-50 and start with a dark colour. Then bit by bit I add lighter colours. Don't create too shiny to keep it natural if that is your goal.

4. When almost all is done, I move the picture to Photoshop and adjust the colours with Levels. (Ctrl+L) Then, add your watermark/signature. And you're done. :D
